The first’s purely mathematical chance of escaping relegation disappeared in the rain at Church Lane. While the pitch itself was just about playable once the covering sheeting had been removed, the outfield was soaking with puddles on the ends of used pitches. Addiscombe, currently third and only three points adrift of a promotion place, were keener attempt a start but with more light rain the cover was replaced, and finally, just before three o’clock a much heavier and prolonged shower ended any lingering hopes of play. With no other matches in the Division being completed, Addiscombe can still achieve promotion, but Warlingham can only look forward to Division 5 next season.
